Can We Dig It?
During the month of October, Mrs. Kramer’s English classes will be engaged in a friendly competition to see which team can raise the most money toward digging a Jesus Well.
You may know that many villages in Asia do not have clean drinking water. But did you know that even in the villages that do, Christians are often not allowed to drink from them? Also, the Dalits- a group once known as the “Untouchables” in the Hindu caste system- are often forced to drink polluted water from streams instead of enjoying the clean water from wells.
But Jesus Wells change all that! A Jesus Well is dug so that ALL may drink from it! In fact, near the well is a plaque, and on it, written in the language of the native people, is this Scripture from John 4:13, 14--
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again,
but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
Since these wells are situated near small churches, the pastor of that church is provided the opportunity to minister to all who come to drink, telling them about the Good News of Jesus Christ! What a great way to share the Gospel!
And what a great opportunity these English classes have to participate in that sharing!
You can participate, too! Feel free to stop by Mrs. Kramer’s classroom 1023 to buy a brownie, or to bid in a silent auction, or just to drop off a donation! All proceeds will help us dig a Jesus Well. So, can we dig it?
With God’s Help, Yes, We Can!
